CB Racing
Christian Bach, a “car guy” since he was five years old, decided to enter racing at 16. Focused and dedicated, he has been working hard to perfect his craft ever since. Through training with Lucas Oil, Ford Performance, KohR Motor Sports, and Universal Technical Institute, Christian has been applying learned skills to the track in the NASA American Iron Series, and plans to enter the IMSA Mustang Challenge in 2024. His ultimate goal is to reach the top tiers of automotive racing as a career.
About
Christian Bach
Born in Gurnee, Illinois, Christian Bach has been obsessed with fast and cool cars since he was five years old. The obsession began when his dad gave him permission to bid on a 1967 Corvette at the Mecum Auction. At the time he said “dad, this is the perfect car for me. It’s blue, fast, and only has two seats.
No women (he has two sisters that would drive him crazy), just you and me can drive it.” After winning the car, Christian and his dad worked on it which has made him hooked ever since.
Years later, the original owner of the Corvette had tracked Christian down and asked if he could purchase it back. Reluctantly, Christian agreed to sell it back to him as he said, “it’s the right thing to do dad.” The gentleman was a Vietnam veteran who had purchased the Corvette as his first new car.
Christian was fortunate with the deal and was able to purchase a 1969 Camaro SS RS convertible restomod.
With the money left over, he was able to put it towards working on the car with his dad. All of this was accomplished well before he got his driver’s license! Christian currently attends Universal Technical Institute where he is studying the Auto Diesel program. This will provide him with a trade, a successful career, and the knowledge of the systems and components that get him across the finish line.
Racing
In June of 2022, Christian decided he wanted to race cars professionally which prompted him to enroll at Lucas Oil School of Racing. In July of that year, he enrolled into their advanced school which he was then able to attain his SCCA full competition license. Then it happened, Ford came out with the new Shelby GT500, and Christian wanted it bad. He had his license now. His parents told him if he could sell the Camaro for enough money, he could get it. He did at Mecum, and he bought a new Shelby GT500.
As a new GT500 owner, Christian was entitled to a free racing school with Ford Performance Racing School. He attended their GT500 Track Attack along with their day two advanced class. Leaving his instructors impressed, his ability to remain calm and calculated behind the wheel was commented on by many. They thought he had a natural ability to race and were left impressed by how well he took direction and implemented it immediately on the track.
Next step was finding a place to race. Christian ended up participating with NASA in the HDPE program with his GT500. He was fortunate enough to meet Jim VanderVliet, Regional Director of the Florida Region. Jim was so kind and encouraging with Christian and helped him through the HPDE program. This resulted in Christian attaining his NASA Competition License. Eventually Jim said, “Christian is pushing the Shelby to the limit, you need to get him a race car,” which prompted the purchase of his first race car.
Christian entered the American Iron Series with a 2013 Boss 302 S factory race car that was acquired from a former Ford dealership in RI. The car had been in storage and was marketed as pretty much new.
After major issues came about with the car, Christian was introduced to Dean Martin of KohR Motorsports in Daytona. Dean has been extremely helpful with the car, and most importantly has coached and encourage Christian in the NASA American Iron Series. Without the help of Dean and his team, Christian would still be spinning his wheels (not in a good way). Dean has invited Christian to participate in the World Racing League Endurance Series, where under Dean’s guidance, he performed well. In October of 2023, Christian raced with two GT4 race cars at Daytona Speedway with Dean and his team.
Christian plans to continue racing with KohR Motorsports in hopes that Dean Martin will mentor him up the professional driving ladder. Christian intends to race in the Mustang Challenge in 2024 and will be driving a new Dark Horse R for KohR Motorsports.
